For businesses and homeowners

You can hire us directly for difficult floor removal in a commercial space or a home. Tell us what needs to come up and what is going down next. We assess the removal and any preparation the supporting surface needs.

Discuss a subcontract

Floor demolition subcontracting for flooring companies

If you have won a flooring job and need another crew to handle the difficult demolition, subcontract that work to us. We have the manpower, equipment and experience for demanding commercial and residential floor removals across East Tennessee.

You do not have to buy or install the replacement flooring through Miller's. We can take on the demolition portion while your company handles the installation. Tell us what needs to come up, what surface you need for the next floor and when your crew needs the removal done. We will assess the work and discuss the scope and schedule with you.

Equipment and crew for difficult removals

We have ride-on floor scrapers, grinders and an experienced crew. We handle glued hardwood, tile and thinset (the mortar beneath tile), glued commercial carpet, and old coatings on concrete. The material, how it is attached and access to the work determine the equipment and manpower the job needs.

If the removal is more than your crew can take on, bring us in for that part of the project. We can discuss removal alone or removal with the surface preparation your next floor requires.

Floor removal goes below the surface

The old flooring is only part of the job. Glue and other bonded material can stay behind after the floor comes up. What happens next depends on the surface underneath and the flooring you plan to put over it.

We handle difficult floor removal, including old tile, glue and coatings on concrete. We assess the removal and preparation together, so the quote reflects the floor you actually have.

A sound base for the next floor

Removing a floor and preparing the surface are connected, but they are different jobs. The subfloor (the supporting surface underneath your flooring) may need more work before installation can begin.

For luxury vinyl plank, a flat subfloor matters. For concrete polishing, removing old coatings is part of exposing the slab that will become the finished floor. We offer concrete grinding on its own too, whether you need an old coating removed or a slab flattened for another floor.

If removal reveals repairs or additional preparation, we explain what the next floor needs. Lifting the old flooring alone does not guarantee the surface is ready for installation.

What affects a floor demolition estimate?

The material, how it is attached, the area involved and access to the work all affect the estimate. Preparation depends on the condition of the surface below and what comes next.

When you contact us, tell us what flooring needs to come up, roughly how much there is and where the project is. Include access and scheduling requirements, what flooring is going down next and whether you need removal only or removal with surface preparation. If you are subcontracting the work, include your company name and the demolition scope.

We are based in Madisonville and work across East Tennessee. Whether you are a flooring company, a business owner or a homeowner, contact us about your floor demolition.

Floor removal questions

Can a flooring company subcontract the demolition to you?

Yes. If you have won a flooring project but need help handling the demolition, you can subcontract the removal to Miller’s. We have the manpower, equipment and experience for difficult commercial and residential jobs.

Does Miller’s have to install the replacement floor?

No. We can take on the demolition portion as a subcontract while your flooring company handles the replacement installation. We discuss the removal scope, surface preparation needs and schedule with you before the work.

What equipment do you have for floor removal?

We have ride-on floor scrapers and grinders, along with the manpower and experience to handle difficult removals. The flooring material, how it is attached and access to the work determine the equipment needed.

What difficult flooring materials can you remove?

We remove glued hardwood, tile and thinset (the mortar beneath tile), glued commercial carpet and bonded glue. We also remove old epoxy, paint and sealer from concrete. We assess the material and surface underneath before quoting the work.

Will the surface be ready for our installers after demolition?

That depends on the agreed scope and the floor underneath. Removal and surface preparation are different parts of the job. Tell us what your installers need, and we will discuss the preparation required as part of the estimate.

How much does demolition cost, and how soon can you do the job?

The material, attachment, area, access and preparation needed determine the price. Tell us your project schedule when you contact us. We assess the work and discuss availability rather than promising the same turnaround for every job.
