  urethane wear layer measured in mils (Miller's recommends 20 mil and up
  for homes), a
  printed design layer, a vinyl core (WPC = wood-plastic composite, SPC =

- **WPC or SPC?** For East Tennessee homes Miller's recommends WPC on every
  subfloor — it expands and contracts with the region's humidity and
  temperature swings far better than SPC. SPC is the commercial pick,
  installed glue-down rather than floating; a floating SPC is also an
  honest budget pick for rentals and flips.

- **What does "wholesale flooring" mean here?** It's the promise on a
  third-generation family sign: premium products at wholesale prices, with
  the same flat markup on every job — big or small, in stock or custom
  ordered. Primarily a retail store; anyone can buy, no account needed.

- **What's the best flooring for a lake house?** Luxury vinyl plank,
  specifically WPC with a 20 mil wear layer: waterproof through the plank,
  warm underfoot, and built for the humidity swings of a house on the water.

- **Engineered vs solid hardwood?** Both are real wood on top. Engineered is a
  real wood veneer over crisscrossed plywood: stable in humidity, glues down
  to concrete, fine in basements, refinishable once or a few times depending
  on veneer thickness. Solid is one piece, above grade only, nailed down,
  refinishes 3 to 5 times. Engineered is most of what Miller's sells today.
  Neither belongs in a bathroom; engineered is not waterproof.

- **Does wide plank hardwood need to be glued down?** Yes. At 4 inches and
  wider Miller's installs engineered with a full spread glue down, total
  coverage, no staples — staples leave air under a wide plank and that space
  is what you hear as popping and squeaking. Under 4 inches the subfloor
  decides: wood gets nailed, concrete gets glued.

- **Best floor cleaner that doesn't leave residue?** For hardwood most
  manufacturers recommend Bona hardwood cleaner; for LVP a damp mop with a
  vinyl-specific cleaner, no steam mops, no wax. /floorcleaningtips
- **How much flooring should I order?** Room square footage plus a waste
  factor — commonly ~10% (more for diagonal or herringbone layouts).

- **Polyester or nylon carpet?** The Miller's line: a polyester will clean
  better and a nylon will wear better. Polyester (often made from recycled
  plastic bottles) is very easy to clean; nylon handles stains well too and
  is the pick for heavy foot traffic. Either way, don't cheap out on the
  pad — Miller's advice is to save on the carpet and buy the nice pad (it

- **Do you need underlayment under LVP?** Usually no: most luxury vinyl plank
  ships with a pad already attached, and over a sound wood subfloor that pad is
  enough (extra is nice, not necessary). Over a CONCRETE slab Miller's does
  recommend adding underlayment, for the moisture barrier plus the softness and
  quiet. GLUE-DOWN LVP never gets underlayment at all; it bonds straight to the
  substrate. Whether you can add one under a plank that already has a pad
  depends on the specific product — check that plank's spec sheet, since it can
  affect the warranty. Underlayment never fixes an uneven subfloor; flatten
  that first.

- **Does Miller's sell laminate?** No — deliberately. The compressed-sawdust
  core isn't truly waterproof: if water reaches it, the core swells and the
  image layer peels. "Waterproof" laminate usually relies on a wax seal
  that fails once broken. Miller's steers homeowners to LVP instead.

- **Tile or LVP in a bathroom?** For showers and bathrooms Miller's steers
  people TO tile: a unique, luxurious look that's worth its money there.

- **Is sheet vinyl any good?** Yes — waterproof, resilient, and a great
  budget option. It needs a smooth, flush subfloor even more than floating

- **Who installs Protect-All flooring in East Tennessee?** Miller's is a
  certified Protect-All installer and trained in heat welding — the seams
  are fused with a vinyl rod into one continuous waterproof surface, which
  is why hospitals and commercial kitchens spec it. Protect-All requires
